The Purdy Eagles cruised to an easy victory over visiting McAuley last Tuesday night and then boosted their record to 3-2 with a convincing 68-54 victory over East Newton on Friday night.
Against the Patriots, Purdy built a 16-13 lead after one quarter of play. The Eagles continued the momentum in the second period as Purdy outscored the Patriots 16-9 to lead 32-22 at halftime.
Drew Williams led the Eagles in scoring with 16 points. Devon Bennett recorded 14 points. Alex Haworth tallied 10 points. Cody Hall and Garen Nelson added 9 points apiece. Brent Cornman and Cameron Terry recorded 4 points each, and Glenn Scott finished with 2 points.
In the game against McAuley, the Eagles earned a 75-55 win, jumping out to a 25-14 lead after one quarter of play. Purdy increased the lead to 41-25 in the second period and 58-39 after three quarters.
Williams again led Purdy in scoring with 14 points.
Also scoring for the Eagles were: Hall, 12 points; Haworth and Terry, 10 points each; Nelson, 9 points; Scott, 8 points; Bennett, 5 points; Austin Hancock, 4 points; Josh Antle, 2 points; and Cornman, 1 point.
The Purdy Lady Eagles shelled the McAuley Lady Warriors 72-13 to improve to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in Ozarks 7 Conference play.
"We played with great passion and effort tonight," said Purdy coach Grant Young. "We had nine players score and that only happens when you share the ball."
Purdy led 37-3 at halftime and 57-11 after three quarters of play.
Addy Roller paced Purdy with 22 points. Mattie White chipped in 18 points. Billie House recorded 9 points. Katie Hughes added 6 points. Taylor Moller finished with 5 points. Jayse Henderson and Kristyn Cornman contributed 4 points each, and Rachael Neill and Kat Hughes tallied 2 points apiece.
