Santa to visit with area kids

Wednesday, December 7, 2011

Area youngsters are invited to celebrate the holiday season with the man in red at Butterfield's annual Christmas Party with Santa, which will be held at the community center from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Dec. 10.

"Everyone is welcome to attend," said Tracy Anders, city clerk. "We are preparing for around 140 kids."

Children attending the event will be invited to create a candy cane or reindeer ornament for their Christmas tree.

"We will have snacks for all the kids," said Anders. "We will have cookies, cupcakes, hot chocolate and Kool-Aid.

"Each child will receive a goodie bag and a gift from Santa," said Anders. "We will also have coloring activities and face painting and other fun things for the kids."

Parents are invited to bring their cameras to the Christmas party. Children will have the opportunity to visit with and get a photo taken with Santa, who will arrive on a big, red fire truck during the event.

"Thank you to all those who have donated items and time for this year's event," said Anders. "We are thankful for all of the help. It means so much to the kids to get a small goodie bag. This is one of the only Christmas gifts some of these kids will receive this year."

All area families are invited to attend Butterfield's Christmas Party with Santa.
