The Ozark Festival Orchestra will continue its Christmas tradition with a presentation of "Nine Lessons and Carols" for its Christmas concert, which will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 11 at the First United Methodist Church at 1600 N. Central Ave. in Monett.
The concert is free. Donations will be accepted to help cover the orchestra's expenses.
This year's performance will include music by Johann Sebastian Bach and arrangements of holiday favorites by British Christmas specialist John Rutter. Joplin soprano Rebecca Leubber, who has performed with the OFO on numerous occasions, will sing solos on "O Holy Night" and the Gounod/Bach setting of "Ave Maria."
The audience will have the opportunity to sing along on six of the seasonal songs.
Monett community leaders will join music director Ken Meisinger and the orchestra in reading selections of scripture that tell the Christmas story from the Creation and Old Testament prophesies through the familiar travels of the Holy Family.
Now in its 32nd season, the Ozark Festival Orchestra is supported by memberships, local foundations and donations at performances. Orchestra members come from across the area for weekly rehearsals and concerts throughout the year.
