Purdy students assemble holiday baskets On Nov. 21, Purdy FCCLA members shopped for a variety of items that were used to assemble holiday food baskets for five local families. In the photo above, Jamzine Rodriguez and Crisol Aldava unload food items at the check out at the Purdy Ramey store.

The Purdy Family, Community and Career Leaders of America (FCCLA) Chapter and the Purdy High School family and consumer science (FACS) classes delivered Thanksgiving food to five families, including 10 children, in the Purdy school district so that the families could enjoy a special dinner for the holiday.

The FACS I classes collected more than $200 from the students, faculty and staff at lunch the week preceding Thanksgiving. They wrote the menu and planned publicity in the school and scheduled the money collection.

On Monday, Nov. 21, 14 FACS I students and FCCLA members shopped for the food and delivered the baskets. This is a part of the FCCLA National Program of Community Service. Students shopped at the Purdy Ramey store.

FCCLA members and FACS I students who helped were: James Schad, Randi Harkins, Susan Vang, Sarah Ly, Anthony Martinez, Jennifer Hernandez, Crisol Aldava, Stephanie Gaucin, Jasmine Rodriguez, Tiffiany Conway, Morgan Jacobs, Nat Alden, Kendra Hall, and Samantha Brown. Ms. Strickland, teacher, Tou Vang and Myra McGee, advisor helped with the shopping and delivery.
