Mary Francis Higgs, 103, of Pierce City, passed away Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011, in St. John's Hospital, Aurora.

She was born Aug. 1, 1908, in Exeter, the daughter of James Elmer and Lena Eliza "Davidson" Tucker. On Aug. 5, 1928, in Stella, she was united in marriage to Jess Higgs, who preceded her in death on July 31, 2001. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one daughter, Grace Higgs at the age of 14; three sisters; and four brothers.

Survivors include: one daughter, Helen Fisher and her husband, Floyd, of Pierce City; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. There are also three step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and five step-great-great grandchildren.

She grew up in Barry County and received her education at Doss School. Most of her life was spent in the Exeter area. She spent the last 16 years at Pierce City. She had been employed in Cassville for Max Cooper Grocery and worked several years at Johnston Variety Store.

She was a member of Pierce City First Baptist Church, where funeral services were held Tuesday, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Rev. Rex Black and Rev. Justin Guffey conducted the services. Burial was at Maplewood Cemetery, Exeter.
