Letter to the Editor

People's generosity amazes veteran

Tuesday, November 22, 2011

Dear Editor:

I was looking for something to take up slack in my spare time. Seeing as I had gone on an Honor Flight last April 26, I contacted the Honor Flight to see if I could help in some way. They said right at that time they had all the help they needed.

I did wind up with something though. I took on the job of getting donations. Some people I know told me let it go I wouldn't do well in Cassville, so I wasn't expecting too much, but whatever I got would help.

I started out in Exeter, Eagle Rock, Golden and Shell Knob. Believe it or not, the generosity of the people was fantastic. I did well over expectations. The generosity was in excess of $5,000.

Here is a copy of one letter I got of thanks. I believe you people out there deserve the thanks more than I do. I only talked to you about the donations.

Dear Mr. Marrello,

If Ozarks Honor Flight had a trophy for Most Amazing Fundraiser Ever hands down, it would be all yours. You are a continual blessing to Ozarks Honor Flight, and all area veterans, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. What you have accomplished is simply amazing. Once again, you are a great American hero.

Ozarks Honor Flight

So I say for Honor Flight and myself, from the bottoms of our hearts, thank you and God bless you all.

Ed Marrello
