Harold M. Tarr, 63, of Cassville, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011. He was born on March 6, 1948, in Big Sandy, Tenn., son of James and Dennie (Butler) Tarr. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Vietnam war. On April 14, 1973, he was united in marriage to Debra Cobb in Chicago, Ill. He was employed most of his life for the Chicago Police Department as a police officer. He and Debra moved to Cassville 10 years ago. He was employed as the security officer for Barry County Division of Family Services for the last eight years. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion.
Survivors include: his wife, Debra; one son, Sean Tarr, of Butterfield; one granddaughter; one grandson; two brothers, Joe Tarr, and his wife, Carrie, of Cassville, and Wesley Tarr, and his wife, Virginia, of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; two sisters, Medgie Parsons, and her husband, Joseph, and Willa Dene Cox, and her husband, Elbert, all of Camden, Tenn. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, James Edward Tarr; and one sister, Mary Sue Nance.
Memorial services with Marine Corps Military Funeral Honors will be held on Nov. 23 at 11a.m. at the White Funeral Home in Cassville, with Pastor Robert Day officiating. A lunch gathering will be held immediately following the services in the community room at the Funeral Home.
