Families invited to sign up for Share Your Christmas

Wednesday, November 9, 2011

Sign-ups for Share Your Christmas will be held at the Barry County OACAC Neighborhood Center in Cassville from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14 through Thursday, Nov. 17 and from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday, Nov. 18.

Families interested in signing up for the program, which provides Christmas presents for local needy children, should bring Social Security cards for each member of the household and proof of income from the month of October to the Neighborhood Center. Parents will also be asked to complete an application that includes information on each child in the household.

Neighborhood Center staff members will begin distributing Share Your Christmas ornaments to local businesses during the week of Nov. 21. Community members interested in purchasing toys for this year's effort should select an ornament from a Share Your Christmas tree or visit the Neighborhood Center after Nov. 21 to adopt a child or family.

Unwrapped presents should be dropped off at the Neighborhood Center, located on Highway 248 in Cassville. Gift bags will be packed on Dec. 15 and distributed on Dec. 16.

For more information, call the Barry County OACAC Neighborhood Center at 847-2140.

  • I want to sign my children up for the share your christmas program.I have Social Security cards for everyone in my home, but i don't have proof of income for October. You see we are on TANF and i have not got any paper work from my case worker since May 2011. Our income has stayed the same for a year now and it's $431.00 a month. What can i do?
