Mary Alice Coble, 91, of Cassville, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011, at Red Rose Health and Rehabilitation Center in Cassville.
She was born in Exeter on July 1, 1920, the daughter of Edgar O. and Bessie L. (Austin) Bowman. On Nov. 15, 1939, in Cassville, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Rolland "Mike" Coble, who preceded her in death on Dec. 14, 2005. Also preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Lee Bowman and Willie Bowman; and two sisters, Marie Gibson and Jessie Young.
Survivors include: a brother, Thomas C. Bowman, of Cassville; and a sister-in-law, Betty Bowman, of Jackson, Tenn.
She grew up and received her education in Exeter, where she graduated with the Class of 1938. She and Mike moved to Kansas City in 1941, then on to California for a few years, before returning to Kansas City and establishing a candy re-packing business, known as Kandi-Pack. She and Mike operated Kandi-Pack together until January of 1966, when Mary went to work for Dodson Insurance. In July, 1983, she retired and they moved to Cassville. Mary was a member of First Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Saturday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Rev. James Weaver conducted the services. Burial was at Maplewood Cemetery, Exeter.
