James E. "Barney" Anderson, 89, of Cassville, passed away Monday, Nov. 7, 2011, at the home of his daughter, Jean Whisenhunt.
He was born July 25, 1922, in Sparta, the son of Charles and Mamie (Hall) Anderson. On Aug. 22, 1941, in Ozark, he was united in marriage to Byrdine Haile, who preceded him in death on June 21, 1995. Also preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers, Everett, Emmett and Darrell Anderson; five sisters, Norma Reed, Gladys Tabor, Lois Davis, Rosetta Calvin and Eunice Scribner; and two grandsons.
Survivors include: one son, Jim Anderson and his wife, Terry, of Butterfield; three daughters, Jean Whisenhunt and her husband, Fred, of Cassville, Mary Birkenbach and her husband, John D., of Pierce City, and Kay Stewart, of Butterfield; one sister, Genevieve Horton, of Nixa; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
He grew up and received his education at Ava. In 1947, he moved from Springfield to Cassville, where he was a mechanic for JC Kenny Motors and then owned and operated Cassville Distributing. For 30 years, he belonged to the Cassville Volunteer Fire Department and was fire chief several years. He was of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Rev. John Henry will conduct the services. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Butterfield.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
