Seligman appoints new alderman

Wednesday, November 2, 2011

The Seligman City Council appointed a new alderman during a special meeting on Oct. 31.

Mayor Jason Raucstadt recommended Kelly Payne for the position of west ward alderman. After the aldermen approved the recommendation, Payne was sworn in by Joan Andrews, city clerk. Payne will serve until the next election in April of 2012.

In other business, the Seligman City Council voted to end maintenance employee TJ Short's probationary period and give him a 75-cent raise, which will increase his pay level to $8 per hour.

The aldermen plan to review Short's pay level after he receives his GED and water or wastewater certification.
