Let your voices be heard

Citizens of Cassville don't forget to attend next Thursday night's public hearing on the proposed water and sewer rate increases. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3 at Cassville City Hall.

It was encouraging to see so many people show up for last Thursday's informational meeting. Citizens packed City Hall, and it is estimated there were over 50 people in attendance, which is a large turnout. City officials presented valuable information about the water system and a list of needed improvements. Citizens had an opportunity to gather information at that meeting, which is the first step in public involvement.

The public hearing will provide the second step. At that meeting, citizens will have the opportunity to speak out about the issue and offer their opinions about the proposed increases, and it will be the city's turn to listen. It is our hope that a record number of citizens and business owners will attend the public hearing and offer their opinion on the issue before the city council finalizes their plan. Attend the meeting and let your voices be heard. ~ Lisa Schlichtman
