Helen K. Peterson, 74, of Golden, passed away Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, in Cassville Health Care and Rehab.

She was born in Modale, Iowa, on Aug. 28, 1937, the daughter of George and Angela (Tamasia) Kirlin. In 1982, at Missouri Valley, Iowa, she was united in marriage to Richard Dean "Pete" Peterson, who survives.

Additional survivors include: two sons, Steven Allen and Tom Allen, both of Omaha, Neb.; one daughter, Barbara Peterson and her husband, Richard D. Peterson, Jr., of Arnold, Neb.; three brothers, Larry Kirlin, Terry Kirlin and Michael Kirlin, all of Omaha, Neb.; six sisters, Sheila Nacey, of Colorado, and Jo Ann Kunkle, Shirley Vandoyn, Thersa Riviera, Kathy Kirlin and Carol Gathye, all of Omaha, Neb.; and three grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents and her first husband, Fritz Allen.

She grew up and received her education in Iowa. She worked as a telephone operator for the telephone company, prepared taxes at H & R Block and worked in finance and insurance for the Ford dealership in Missouri Valley, Iowa, as well as, being a full time wife and mother. Upon retirement in 1988, she and Pete moved to Missouri to make their home. For over 20 years, she quilted for family and friends and was an active member in several quilting clubs during that time. She was a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church, Cassville.

Services are scheduled for Monday, Oct. 3, in Missouri Valley, Iowa. Local arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
