Community celebrates with St. John's staff members
Numerous Cassville community members attended the St. John's Hospital Foundation picnic on Oct. 5. Area business and community leaders also took part in a Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting ceremony held at the new St. John's Clinic last Wednesday.
"Thank you all for taking the time to be here to celebrate with us," said Doug Stroemel, St. John's Hospital West Region president. "The completion of this project came after years of work and a lot of commitment."
Stroemel said that the completion of the hospital renovation project and the new clinic facility were a joint effort of St. John's Hospital, the clinic staff and the hospital board.
"I hope that you all have the opportunity to tour the renovations in the hospital and the beautiful medical building, which is home for our wonderful partners and clinic staff," said Stroemel.
Dr. Jaime Zengotita, St. John's Hospital-Cassville chief of staff and clinic physician, also offered gratitude to the hospital board for making the project a reality.
"This building is part of the way St. John's shows our commitment to the community," said Dr. Zengotita.
"It is very exciting to be a part of this," said Dr. Connie Butler, St. John's Hospital West Region Board chair and clinic physician. "It was last year during our picnic that we broke ground on the new facility.
"Being part of the board, I had the unique opportunity to see the project from the perspective of a provider and a board member," said Dr. Butler. "We truly appreciate the support we have received from the community."
Dave Steinmann, St. John's Hospital-Cassville vice president and chief operating officer, also offered comments during the event.
"It is really a joy to go through this process and see everyone working together from beginning to end," said Steinmann. "None of this could happen without a good partnership with the community. The great turnout we have today shows the support we receive from the community."
Stroemel invited Dr. Zengotita and Steinmann to cut the ribbon together.
The new 10,000-square-foot clinic opened on May 23. The facility offers 17 exam rooms, which is seven more than offered in the previous location. The building also features a large procedure room, a bigger waiting room and registration desk and an expanded lab and special drawing area.
The new facility offers 3,500 more square feet of space for the six providers and staff serving at the clinic. In addition to Dr. Zengotita and Dr. Butler, clinic providers include: Dr. Jennifer Lambert, Amanda Crim, P.A., Amanda Winfrey, N.P., and Cyndy Baker, FNP.
The addition also offers a large new conference room, which is used by both clinic and hospital staff members. The new facility is connected to the hospital on the north side, which allows patients to be conveniently transported between the clinic and hospital.
DeWitt and Associates, of Springfield, served as general contractor for the building project.
