Kelsey Henry, a member of the Southwest High School FFA Chapter, has earned the American FFA Degree. The honor will be presented to Henry at the 84th National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind., on Oct. 22. The American FFA Degree recognizes demonstrated leadership ability and outstanding achievements in agricultural business, production, processing or service programs. To be eligible, members must earn and productively invest $7,500 through a supervised agricultural experience program in which they start, own or hold a professional position in and serve 50 community service hours. Recipients must also make it their mission to demonstrate outstanding leadership abilities and community involvement. Award recipients receive a Gold American FFA Degree key and a certificate in a blue leatherette frame. Henry is one of only 3,240 students who will be recognized with the honor this year.
