Gary Ray Stewart, 72, of Cassville, passed away Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011, in Cox-Monett Hospital, Monett.

He was born Dec. 1, 1938, in Washburn, the son of Ray and Audrey (Watson) Stewart. On Dec. 1, 1957, in Cassville, he was united in marriage to Lucy Jane Tiner, who survives.

Additional survivors include: one son, Shannon Stewart and his wife, Carla, of Cassville; one daughter, Pamela Denbow and her husband, James, of Merritt Island, Fla.; and five grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Bill Stewart; and two sisters, Dorothy Rose and Pamela DeeAnn Stewart.

He grew up and received his education at Washburn, graduating from high school in 1956. From April 19, 1957, through Jan. 31, 1965, he served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He worked in construction his entire life and was owner and operator of Stewart Backhoe Service. He was a member of the Church of Christ and attended Washburn Church of Christ.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Ken West will conduct the services. Burial will be at a later date.

Contributions may be made to Fair Haven Children's Home in his memory.
