Last Friday afternoon, a semi truck carrying several automobiles overturned at the bottom of Highway 112 in Roaring River State Park, prompting law enforcement officers to close the highway for around 45 minutes. The breaks on the semi truck locked up as it descended the large hill traveling south on Highway 112. This caused the truck to veer into the side of the cliff, turn on its side and slide around 200 feet down the roadway. Two of the vehicles unhinged from the trailer and were damaged during the crash. The driver was not injured. The Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Eagle Rock Fire Protection District, the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) and park staff members assisted with the clean-up, which took around seven hours to complete. The crash occurred at 3:30 p.m.
