The Diamond Lady Wildcats won their own Diamond Invitational Volleyball Tournament on Saturday, defeating Greenfield 25-15 and 25-16 in the final. Cassville claimed third place, while Southwest and Purdy finished fifth and seventh respectively.
The Lady Wildcats opened up pool play by tying eventual tournament runner-up Greenfield 26-24 and 19-25. Cassville then defeated McAuley 25-10, 25-14 and Golden City 25-15, 25-11.
In the last two games of the tournament, Cassville tied Exeter 25-22, 19-25 and then downed Lamar 25-19, 25-16 to complete a successful day.
Cassville now holds a 6-7-2 overall record.
Purdy had a two-two split on Saturday. Renae Nelson's Lady Eagles lost to Lamar and Diamond, tied Southwest (19-25, 28-26) and defeated Sarcoxie and Golden City. The Lady Eagles are now 7-11-1 for the season.
