The Cassville Wildcats claimed 13th place in the large schools varsity race at the Nixa Invitational cross country meet on Tuesday, Sept. 20. Nixa won the meet, scoring 87 points.
Cassville boys varsity finishers were: Taylor Dodson, 58th, 19:08; Connor Redmond, 59th, 19:09; Jordan Shore, 73rd, 19:47; Walker Perez, 74th, 19:52; Ben Makela, 76th, 19:59; Nathan Vitt, 83rd, 20:59; and T.J. Matthews, 96th, 23:08.
In the large schools varsity girls race, Cassville's Deborah Kern placed 24th in a time of 22:23, and Reba Dupont was 64th, finishing the course in 26:57.
In the small school races, Southwest, Wheaton and Purdy were all represented.
Southwest's Cristian Sellars was the area's highest-placing runner, taking fourth place in the boys division. College Heights Christian won the small school boys team race, scoring 62 points. Southwest was eighth with 215 points and Wheaton was ninth with 238.
Southwest boys varsity finishers were: Cristian Sellars, fourth, 17:58; James Pettit, 22nd, 19:03; Kyle Miller, 65th, 21:39; Zach Miles, 74th, 22:40; and Jake Shrum, 83rd, 24:06.
Wheaton boys varsity runners included: Tyler Pendergraft, 28th, 19:21; Jon Sherwood, 42nd, 20:01; Tyler Musick, 56th, 20:58; Justin Yeary, 64th, 21:37; David Hoston, 73rd, 22:39, Chase Cantwell, 77th, 23:23; and Matt Hickman, 81st, 24:01.
There were only three complete teams in the small school girls division, and Springfield Catholic won with 21 points.
Wheaton girls varsity finishers were: Samantha Etzler, 33rd, 25:31; Chase Burns, 34th, 26:59; and Breanna Brattin, 35th, 27:14.
Brittany Miles led the Southwest Lady Trojans, finishing 38th in a time of 28:25.
