Celebrate Cassville's Homecoming at a special Homecoming Luncheon and Golf Tournament on Friday, Sept. 30 at the Cassville Golf Course. The event is sponsored by the Cassville Education Fund.

Golfers and non-golfers alike are invited to enjoy barbecue sandwiches and sides from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the golf course dining room. Admission is $7 per person and includes a barbecue sandwich, two sides, a dessert and refreshments.

Registration for a two-man scramble will begin at 11:30 a.m. with competition starting at noon. The tournament is limited to the first 40 teams that register. The cost to participate is $50 per person or $100 per team. Mulligans will be available at registration.

The number of teams participating will determine cash prizes and flights. Hole prizes will also be awarded.

Those who can't play in the scramble will have the opportunity to compete in a putting contest between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The contest is open to anyone. Cost is $10 for three putts. Winner of the putting contest will receive four passes to any Arrowhead Golf Club, including 18 holes of golf, cart fee and range balls.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Cassville Education Fund, a permanent endowment for funding educational needs at Cassville R-IV Schools. In the past, the Cassville Education Fund has awarded grants to purchase software for whiteboards in second grade reading classes and materials for social skills enhancement at the middle school.

"We hope to be able to fill a need," said Mary Cupps, Cassville Education Fund Board chair person. "As this fund grows, we hope to be able to fulfill bigger and more projects. We try to address things that fall through the cracks, especially in tough budget times."

Sponsors of the Homecoming Luncheon and Golf Tournament include: All Points Recycling; Angel & Company, CPAs, P.C.; Arning Company; Barry County Veterinary Clinic; Cassville Veterinary Clinic, Chip and Dana Kammerlohr; Commerce Bank; Designs by Debbie; Ellis, Cupps and Cole, Attorneys at Law; First State Bank; Freedom Bank; International Paper; Roaring River Resort; Runnels Chiropractic; Tomblin's Jewelry and Gifts; and Willis Insurance.
