On Saturday, members of the Cassville United Methodist Church joined church volunteers throughout Missouri in a full day of community service as part of Serve 2011. Approximately 75 Cassville UMC church members divided into teams to tackle 10 different service projects, including: the construction of a playground playhouse; a used clothing giveaway with a free hotdog lunch; landscaping tasks, such as raking leaves at the Habitat for Humanity home under construction in Cassville; home repairs; and guttering and window cleaning. On Thursday, volunteers also served dinner to the Cassville High School Wildcat football team. "It was exciting doing local mission work and knowing this was going on all across Missouri, especially on the eve of Sept. 11," said Joan Andrews and Leslie Reed, mission co-chairs. In the photo above, volunteers Steve Runnels and Johnnie Cox help homeowner Pat Conner with a gutter clean-out and home repairs.
