George Eugene Madison, 78, of Cassville, passed away on Monday, Sept. 12, 2011. He was born in the Cato community on May 11, 1933, to George and Elva (Sturgell) Madison. He attended school in the Hailey Community and graduated from Cassville High School in 1951. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict as well as in Germany. On June 25, 1955, he married Sharon Weller in Hutchinson, Kan. In 1951, he began working for "Shorty" Hadley and by 1955 he purchased the business from Shorty, which then became Gene Madison Welding.
Survivors include: his wife, Sharon of 56 years; one son, Rick Madison, of Cassville; two brothers, Charles "Bud" Madison and his wife, Marie, of Cassville, and Lavern Madison and his wife, Diane, of Cassville; one sister, Reba Craine and her husband, Bill, of Nixa; one brother-in-law, Gary Weller and his wife, Carolyn, of Wichita, Kan.; and three granddaughters. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death was by one daughter, Ronda Sue Madison.
Services will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the White Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Danny Heupel will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Highway 248, Cassville. Family will receive friends on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at White Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made the Cassville Senior Center, Fair Street, Cassville or may be entrusted to the White Funeral Home.
