Shirley Ann Williams, 73, of Shell Knob, passed away Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011, at Cox Medical Center South, Springfield.

She was born June 20, 1938, in Maysville, the daughter of James Thomas "J.T." and Vera (Early) Williams. On June 28, 1958, in Hardin, she was united in marriage to Lewis M. Williams, who survives.

Additional survivors include: two daughters, Louann Tummons and her husband, Philip, of Leawood, Kan., and Lori Werth and her husband, David, of Lee's Summit; her mother, Vera Williams, of Richmond; one sister, Marcia Williams, of Richmond; and five grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her father and her sister, Carol Wheeler.

She graduated from Hardin Central High School in Hardin and continued her education at McPherson College in McPherson, Kan., and Fort Hays State University, Hays, Kan. She taught elementary school at Quinter, Kan., for 30 years before moving to Shell Knob, where she taught for several years. In 1993, she retired from teaching but continued being active in Christian Womens Fellowship, Discovery Quilters of Shell Knob and Chicks and Needles Quilt Organization of Shell Knob. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Shell Knob.

Memorial services were held Saturday in Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond, and Monday in First Christian Church, Shell Knob, under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob. Pastor Tom Rees conducted both services.

Memorials may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or First Christian Church, Shell Knob, in her memory.
