James David "J.D." Williams, 50, of Seligman, died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011, in St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield.
He was born in Hinton, Okla., on July 18, 1961, the son of Arvil D. and W. Francis (Whitt) Williams. On June 20, 1996, he and LayVon (Slate) Clark pledged their love to one another. She preceded him in death on April 13, 2011. He was also preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include: his adopted sons, Paul E. Nelson and his wife, Brenda, and their two children, all of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Timmy Trotter, of Seligman, and James E. Nelson, of Pine Bluff, Ark.; three brothers, Monroe L. Clevenger and Arvil Williams, both of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Floyd Williams, of Seligman; and three sisters, Sara Markus, of Hutchinson, Kan., Linda Plopper, of Seligman, and Wanda Kelley, of Grainfield, Kan.
He grew up in Oklahoma and graduated from high school in Norman, Okla. He was a caregiver to the sick, as well as, the elderly. Both he and LayVon devoted themselves to years of helping others.
Graveside services were held Saturday in Tucks Chapel Cemetery, Rogers, Ark., under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Tony Ball conducted the services.
