Local residents needing a day of pampering after a stressful week can now make an appointment at Purdy Hair and Spa, located behind Country Corner at 405 Highway C in Purdy.
Purdy Hair and Spa is owned by Kindria Brown. Working at the new business are Lee Anne Wingo, who performs massages and skin care esthetics, including waxing and spray tanning, and Adrian Reed, stylist.
The three have attended classes in their fields of expertise, receiving their certifications from Neosho.
"We seem to be attracting a younger crowd," Brown said, "and it's not just women."
Wingo said more men are taking part in the care of their personal appearance through professional services.
"We offer micro-current services, which tighten and firm the skin on the face, chin and neck area," Wingo said.
Additionally, the stylists offer perms, cuts, coloring, hair extensions and manicure and pedicure services.
"We have natural hair or dyed feather extensions coming in to promote school colors," Brown said. "A lot of high school students want to have extensions on game day."
Reed and Brown also give make-up lessons to young women just beginning to use beauty products and adult women needing to update their looks.
Full spa packages are also available.
Purdy Hair and Spa is open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturdays.
"We're excited to be here," Brown said. "We look forward to meeting area residents and helping them with their salon and spa needs."
