Seneca spikers down Lady Wildcats

Wednesday, September 7, 2011

Dig it Chuck Nickle Photography Lady Wildcat senior Rachel Sanders records a dig during Cassville's volleyball game against Seneca last Thursday night.
The Seneca Lady Indians invaded Cassville on Thursday and claimed a Big 8 Conference volleyball victory over the Lady Wildcats, 2-1.

Cassville won the first game in a thriller, 30-28, but then Seneca took command of the match, sweeping the final two games, 25-17 and 25-21.

Senior middle hitter Gabrielle Ogan played in her first match of the season for the Lady Wildcats after being sidelined by knee injuries last season. Besides the emotional lift she provided, Ogan paced the team in kills on the night with nine.

Seneca's Annie Howard and Moriah Montano led the Lady Indians with 11 and nine kills respectively. Seneca used its size advantage throughout the match, outblocking Cassville, 12-3.

The Lady Wildcats return to action on Thursday, Sept. 8, when they travel to Carthage for a non-conference clash.
