Jerry Wayne Schmidt, 77, of Exeter, passed away at his home on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011. He was born on May 23, 1934, in Pampa, Texas, son of Edwin Schmidt and Geneva Overstreet. He was a graduate of Kemper Military High School in Boonville. After graduation, he attended the University of Arkansas and Texas Tech University, where he completed his degree in petroleum engineering. He honorably served in the U.S. Army and retired from BP global.
On June 2, 1956, he was united in marriage to Anna Lee Burton in Boonville. To this union two daughters were born, Karen and Elaine. Ann preceded him in death on June 25, 2008, after 52 years of marriage. On Feb. 14, 2010, he was reunited in marriage with his life-long friend, Samantha (Sammy) Hudson, of Exeter. He was a member of the Tallowood Baptist Church in Houston, Texas.
Survivors include: his wife, Samantha (Sammy) Hudson-Schmidt, of Exeter; two daughters, Karen Shaw, of Houston, Texas, and Elaine Pickle, and her husband, Johnny, of Houston, Texas; four stepchildren; and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at White Funeral Home, Cassville with Rev. Paul Yarnall officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time on Saturday.
