Cassville High School alumna opens new childcare center near school

Wednesday, August 24, 2011

A former Cassville student has opened a childcare center just a hop and a skip away from the R-4 School District's main campus.

On Aug. 8, Ally Nickle opened Wiggles 'N' Giggles Childcare and Learning Center in the facility behind the intermediate school playground, which formerly housed Cassville's PAT (Parents As Teachers) program.

"I worked for Kellie Dickson (at Lit'l Bits Preschool and Daycare) through high school," said Nickle. "After I graduated, I went to school in Springfield, but I really missed working in childcare.

"I took the initiative and asked the school if I could rent this building," said Nickle. "It is such a good location right next to Cassville Schools. I can't see a much better opportunity."

Nickle dressed the empty building with floor mats and rugs, play equipment, toys and a variety of other childcare necessities before opening the learning center earlier this month. She also added a kitchen to the building.

Wiggles 'N' Giggles Childcare offers a nutritionally balanced lunch and snacks for children who are 1 or older. Nickle's grandmother, Sue Horn, has volunteered to serve as the learning center's cook.

The childcare facility also offers a non-smoking atmosphere with no pets and a large, fenced in backyard with a variety of riding toys.

"We will have story time everyday," said Nickle. "We will also have circle time and Friday fun days. During the summer, we will do things like set up the sprinkler outside and let the kids play in it. We will do a lot of activities."

In addition to free play, children will have the opportunity to take part in arts and crafts projects to enhance fine motor skills and a daily physical workout to refine gross motor skills.

Wiggles 'N' Giggles, which is currently in the process of obtaining a state childcare license from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, will offer music, learning time, quiet time and lots of loving care.

"I love being with kids," said Nickle, who is a 2010 Cassville High School graduate. "Kids are so fun. There is no better joy than spending time with them."

Nickle will serve as Wiggles 'N' Giggles full-time director. She is currently completing online classes in order to earn an associates degree in business management from Ozark Technical College in Springfield. She has completed 42 credit hours.

Nickle has several years of experience working in a daycare center and babysitting for friends and family. She has also worked as an A+ tutor for preschool children.

"Chelsea Addison will be working here also," said Nickle. "She is a certified CNA and is currently attending college in order to become a pediatrician."

Addison is CPR certified. She also has childcare experience through babysitting and serving as an A+ preschool tutor.

Nickle's great-aunt, Andrea Nickle, will round out the Wiggles 'N' Giggles Childcare staff. Andrea worked for the Cassville School District for around 13 years and has offered childcare services for family and friends.

Nickle's mother, Ann, who is a sixth grade teacher at Cassville Middle School, will assist at the facility before and after school.

Wiggles 'N' Giggles will offer daytime childcare services from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The facility will also offer date night childcare services once a month. Date nights will be publicized through local newspapers and Facebook in advance. Parents must make reservations for date night childcare services.

This fall, Wiggles 'N' Giggles will offer childcare during all home football games. Currently five spots have been reserved for the Friday night games. Parents interested in reserving a spot should contact Nickle as soon as possible.
