Wheaton High School senior Sheldon Harper is currently a student of the Missouri Academy of Mathematics, Science and Computing on the campus of Northwest Missouri State University. Harper entered the program after his sophomore year at Wheaton and is completing an associate's degree and his high school graduation requirements simultaneously. His courses include multivaried calculus, multiethnic literature and computer programing. Harper said he enjoys the program and finds living on campus, the tough academic requirements and scheduling time to work with his professors, who are not as accessible as his former high school teachers, as the biggest challenges. He hopes to inspire other students to follow his path and enter the program. Harper is the son of Michael and Terra Harper and the grandson of Jerry and Sue Harper, Debra and Gary Wheeler and the late Michael Rose.
