James Arthur Hansen, 78, of Aurora, died Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011, in Cox Medical Center South, Springfield.
He was born March 31, 1933, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Arthur and Adeline (Nelson) Hansen. On Oct. 3, 1987, in Eureka Springs, Ark., he was united in marriage to Eleanor (Burbridge) Packwood, who survives.
Additional survivors include: a son, James Kent Hansen and his wife, Anita, of Sorrento, Fla.; an adopted son, Dean Lewis Rhoades, of Los Angeles, Calif.; three step-sons, Todd Acuff, of Kansas City, Kevin Packwood and his wife, Tammy, of Aurora, and Gary Packwood and his wife, Denise, of Aurora; three step-daughters, Kay Roberts and her husband, Jim, of Springfield, Carla Halterman and her husband, Mike, of Aurora, and Tiffanie Piker, of Fairway, Kan.; a brother, Richard Dix Hansen, of Tucson, Ariz.; 19 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents and an adopted son, Richard Hansen.
He grew up in Chicago, Ill., and graduated from Cook County High School in Southside Chicago. He was a traveling salesman of leather goods and western wear and owner/operator for the Workshop/Packwood Furniture in Aurora and Cassville.
A celebration of life will be held at 7 p.m. today (Wednesday) in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Rev. Edith Bird will conduct the services.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until service time Wednesday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
