Exeter approves training contract

The Exeter City Council approved a contract with Missouri Southern State University Law Enforcement Academy at its regularly scheduled meeting on July 12.

The partnership will allow Exeter Police Chief Willie Stephens and Officer Justin Fohn to receive 40 hours of in-service training.

The aldermen also voted to increase the city's mileage rate to 50 cents for employees who are using their own vehicles to conduct city business.

In other business, the Exeter City Council:

* Approved the bank reconciliations, voted to pay the June bills and reviewed the current bank balances.

* Declared the city's weed trimmer as surplus property.
