The Southwest High School Trapshooting team placed fourth of 25 squads in their class and seventh overall at the AIM Grand Nationals, shooting 961 out of 1,000 in the competition in Sparta, Ill., on Aug. 6 and 7. Team members included Eric Anderson, Charly Phillips and Kordell McNabb, who all shot 193s, Johnathon Wolf, who shot a 192, and Alan McNabb, who posted a 190.

Southwest's junior high squad finished ninth with a score of 802 in the Sub-Junior Class C championship. Team members include Jesse Hayworth (174), Garrett Hobbs (168), Tommy Sickles (158), Jacob Wolf (156) and Brent Anderson (146).

"These kids worked very hard and represented their team well," said Southwest's Mike Vining. "We didn't shoot very well on Sunday, and it cost us. With the history of our program, some people think it's a bad year if we don't win nationals. That's a pretty good compliment I think."
