Fairview woman injured in crash on Highway 86 north of Wheaton
A three-car crash on Highway 86 three miles north of Wheaton left a Fairview woman injured.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday when the driver of a 2006 Chevrolet Blazer, Danny O. Taylor, 56, of Fairview, and the driver of a 1996 Freight-liner dump truck, Jason Smith, 36, of Anderson, were both stopped in the northbound lane of traffic. The driver of a 1998 Jeep Wrangler, Andrew G. Loyd, 19, of Wheaton, struck the Blazer from behind, forcing it into the back of the dump truck.
An occupant in the Taylor vehicle, Lucille Taylor, 79, of Fairview, was taken to St. John's Hospital in Springfield with moderate injuries. Loyd was the only party involved reportedly not wearing a seat belt.
* A single-vehicle crash on Sunday sent two people to a Springfield hospital. The crash occurred at 10:45 a.m. on Highway W two miles east of Wheaton when a 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier, driven by Kassie Pointer, 17, of Neosho, ran off the roadway and overturned. Both Pointer and a passenger in the vehicle, Valerie Rey, 16, of Monett, received moderate injuries and were taken to Cox Hospital South in Springfield. Neither were wearing a seat belt, according to the Patrol report.
