Cassville High School freshman Levi Pollreisz was invited to participate in the first annual boys' volleyball Community Olympic Development Program (CODP) in Springfield. The program was held once a week for eight weeks this summer. CODP gave boys between the ages of 12 and 14 the opportunity to take part in a variety of drills and learn volleyball fundamentals and game strategies. The program gives youngsters access to facilities, programs, coaches and competitions designed to enhance athletic ability to compete in Olympic sports. The volleyball program was directed by Lori Endicott-Vandersnick, 1992 Olympic bronze medalist, and Ryan Lacson, who is the coach of the club level Springfield Juniors and Heart of America Board associate director of junior development in Missouri. CODP also offered tennis, ice hockey, archery and weightlifting programs in Springfield.
