Lorena Margaret (Carter) Ball, 97, of Seligman, passed away Friday, Aug. 5, 2011, in Red Rose Health and Rehabilitation Center, Cassville.
She was born Dec. 17, 1913, in Eureka Springs, Ark., the daughter of Rev. James Allen Carter and Artie Elizabeth (Cordell) Carter. On Oct. 26, 1928, in Eureka Springs, Ark., she was united in marriage to Edward Ball, who preceded her in death on Aug. 25, 1979. Also preceding her in death were her parents; two sons, Ellery and Ellis Ball; two daughters, Annabelle, in infancy, and Ettaree Louise (Ball) Warren; five brothers, (twins) Virgil and Spurgeon, Benny, Ellis and Levi Carter; two sisters, Minnie Crawford and Edith Ball; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one great-great-grandchild.
Survivors include: three sons, Lloyd Ball and his wife, Shirley, of Cassville, Gene Ball and his wife, Vickie, of Eagle Rock, and Willis Ray Ball and his wife, Betty, of Carthage; two daughters, Georgia Lee Hart and her husband, Maurice "Buddie," of Eagle Rock, and Rosia Lee Ennes and her husband, Robert, of Seligman; a daughter-in-law, Betty Fisher, of Aurora; two sisters, Mary Westpheling, of Cassville, and Elsie Carter Elting, of Washington D.C.; two sisters-in-law, Margie Carter, of Kansas City, and Flora Carter, of Shell Knob; 32 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; 73 great-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-great- grandchildren.
She grew up in the Roaring River area and received her education at Roaring River School. She was a life-long resident of Barry County and had been a long-time member of Roaring River Baptist Church. Upon moving to Seligman in 1979, she began attending Rock Springs Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Tuesday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Tony Ball and Pastor Varl Ball conducted the services. Burial was at Corinth Cemetery, Cassville.
