Mary Ann Stringer, 79, of Buckner, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2011. Services were Tuesday, Aug. 2 at Heart of God Fellowship. Burial was in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice, 9237 Ward Parkway #300, Kansas City, MO 64114. She was born June 14, 1932, in Florence, Kan., to Alfred and Bernice (Holbrook) Munson. She attended school in Grandview, Ark., and Norwalk, Calif., graduating from Excelsior Union High School in 1948. On Aug. 27, 1949, she was married to Joe Stringer, Jr., who survives. Together, they raised nine children. She was an active member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Chi Omega sorority.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by eight children: Joann Peck, of Eagle Rock, Kenneth Stringer and wife, Angela, of Lee's Summit, Randall Stringer and wife, Cheri, of Kansas City, Karen Barksdale and husband, Robert, of Higginsville, Sharon Gail Stringer, of Sibley, Nancy Hudanish and husband, Steve, of Benton, Ark., Phillip Stringer and wife, Kimberly, of Buckner, Anthony Stringer and wife, Sandy, of Overland Park, Kan.; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and two half-brothers, Johnny Munson and Kenneth Munson, both of southern California. She was preceded in death by her son, Ronald.
