C. Lavon Montgomery, 89, of Cassville, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2011, in St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield.

She was born Dec. 29, 1921, in Exeter, the daughter of Emmett and Chloe (Higgs) Goostree. On July 12, 1941, in Exeter, she was united in marriage to Raymond R. Montgomery, who preceded her in death on March 19, 1997. Also preceding her in death were her parents and one sister, Lois Dunnam.

Survivors include: one daughter, Sherry Ware, of Cassville; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She grew up and received her education at Exeter, where she graduated from high school. She was a life-long resident of Barry County and farmed with her husband. In 1998, she moved from her farm to Cassville to make her home. She was a member of the Women's Farm Club and a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church. For 35 years, she was a Sunday school teacher at Calvary Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held Saturday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Brother Art Rogers conducted the services. Burial was at Maplewood Cemetery, Exeter.
