Quilt Club goes to the dogs

Saturday, July 23, 2011
Several members of the Sew in Heaven Quilt Club, of Holiday Island, Ark., recently made and donated two quilts to the Canine Companion for Independence (CCI) organization, which provides highly trained assistance dogs to children and adults with disabilities free of charge. The organization also supports the Wounded Veteran initiative. The quilts will be offered at auction to raise funds for the organization. Pictured above, from left, are: Joyce Finch and Sue Hammer, two of the quilt club's members, along with Debbie Locander, of Rogers, Ark., and Pluto, a 13-month-old puppy in training, who visited the Sew in Heaven Quilt Club to accept the donation. For more information on the quilt club, call 479-253-0770. Members meet at 9 a.m. the first Friday of the month at Sew in Heaven, located at 3 Park Cliff Dr. in Holiday Island, Ark. For more information on the CCI, visit their website at www.cci.org.
