Kornerstone accepts sponsors for annual fundraiser

Wednesday, July 20, 2011

Kornerstone will host its annual Dessert on Us fundraiser in the Cassville High School commons area from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 4.

"Kornerstone is preparing for our fourth annual Dessert On Us by selling table sponsorships for the evening," said Marlene Whitham, Kornerstone director. "Table sponsors will receive a sign or banner thanking them for supporting Kornerstone's educational programs, including the Teen Mom program, early childhood programs, GED and tutoring and academic credit recovery programs. We are also asking for donations of one-of-a-kind handmade pieces from local artisans."

Artwork will be featured in a public auction that will be held during Dessert On Us. Last year's event offered watercolor paintings, handmade jewelry and handcrafted signs.

"People should mark Thursday, Aug. 4 on their calendars," said Whitham. "Dessert On Us will offer an enjoyable evening, including live music, a pie and dessert auction and the opportunity to bid on one-of-a-kind pieces from local artisans."

Attendees will have the opportunity to create ice cream sundaes with their choice of toppings.

Dessert On Us is open to the public. Attendees should wear casual attire.

Several local businesses, organizations and individuals will serve as table sponsors for this year's Dessert On Us fundraiser.

Bronze sponsors include: Security Bank of Southwest Missouri; Willis Insurance; Les Jacobs Ford-Mercury; Myers Dirt Works; Ozark Air Conditioning; Barry County Abstract; Kings River Golf Course; Bob Bishop - State Farm Insurance; Shumaker Tire, Inc.; and Whitley Pharmacy.

The following businesses will serve as silver sponsors for the event: Arvest Bank, of Shell Knob; St. John's Clinic, of Shell Knob and Dr. Sherwood; Green Mountain Reality, Inc.; and Shell Knob Pest Control.

The Shell Knob Lions Club and Ball and Prier Tire, Inc., will serve as gold sponsors, and John and Debby Walker, of Mission, Kan., will serve as a platinum sponsor.
