Michael Shane Mathes, 42, of Washburn, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2011, in California.

He was born Oct. 17, 1968, in Centerville, Iowa, the son of Floyd and Opal (Wendland) Mathes.

He received his education in Centerville, Iowa, where he graduated from high school. Twenty years ago, he moved from Exline, Iowa, to Missouri to make his home. He was currently employed with American Farm Supply as an over-the-road truck driver.

Survivors include: his wife, Cheyanne Bohmke; his mother, Opal Mathes, of Centerville, Iowa; his paternal grandmother, Ozetta McElderry of Exline, Iowa; six sons, Zach Vance and his fiance, Belinda Long, of Cassville, Jared Mathes, of Ridgley, Brodey Mathes, of Washburn, Carl Vance, of Springfield, Colton Beck, of Cassville, and Jacob Privett, of Ridgley; two daughters, Jordan Privett, of Ridgley, and Sequoia Beck, of Washburn; two sisters, Pam Mathes, of Exline, Iowa, and Betty Hendrix, of Washburn; and his mother-in-law, Rhonda Vogler of Eagle Rock.

Preceding him in death was his father, Floyd Mathes; one sister, Lorain Mathes; maternal grandparents, Harold and Mabel Wendland; paternal grandfather, Darwin McElderry.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Brother Mel Taylor and Pastor Doyle Russell will conduct the services. Burial will be in Washburn Prairie Cemetery, Washburn.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday) in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
