Pierce City resident killed in crash near Golden
A Pierce City man died in a one-vehicle crash on Highway 86 two mile east of Golden early Tuesday morning.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Travis G. Barnes, 50, was pronounced dead at the scene by Barry County Deputy Coroner Charlie McManus at 12:20 a.m. after Barnes's 2006 Dodge pickup ran off the roadway and struck a tree.
The Patrol report indicated that Barnes was not wearing a seat belt.
Barnes' death marks Troop D's 44th fatality for 2011.
* One person was injured in a two-vehicle wreck on Tuesday, July 5. The crash occurred at 4:15 p.m. when a 1998 Ford F250, driven by Dale L. Bradley, 25, of Rocky Comfort, was disabled on Highway 76 two miles west of Cassville and his vehicle was struck from behind by a 1997 Jeep Wrangler, driven by Carla L. Ganoung, 3, of Washburn. Ganoung was not wearing a seat belt and was taken to St. John's Hospital-Cassville with minor injuries. Bradley was wearing a seat belt.
* A Crane man was injured in a single-vehicle wreck that occurred at 10 p.m. on July 6 on Highway 39 three miles south of Aurora. The driver of a 2003 Lincoln, Joe R. Carney, 83, swerved to avoid a stopped vehicle in the road and swerved off the road, struck a mailbox and a fence. Carney was transferred to St. John's Hospital-Aurora with minor injuries.
