Barbara Jean "Barb" Hobbs, 71, of Exeter, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2011, in her home.
She was born May 4, 1940, in Ridgley, the daughter of George Michael and Elsie Mae (Thomas) Charles. On April 13, 1963, in Cassville, she was united in marriage to Bubby Carl Hobbs, who preceded her in death on March 7, 2006. Also preceding her in death were her parents; three sisters, Doris Kimbrough, June Armstrong and Odean Brown; and three brothers, Eugene Charles, Don Charles and Marcell Charles.
Survivors include: three sons, Les Hobbs and his wife, Jane, of Washburn, Jeff Hobbs and his wife, Dodie, of Exeter, and Chris Hobbs and his wife, Brandy, of Exeter; two daughters, Jenny Thomas and her husband, Randy, of Cassville, and Terri Henderson and her husband, John, of Exeter; one brother, Bob Charles and his wife, Carolyn, of Exeter; one sister, Mary Robinson, of Kansas City; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She received her education at Exeter, and was a 1958 graduate of Exeter High School. For a short time, she resided in Kansas City, but spent most of her life at Exeter. Throughout her life she had been employed for Sears & Roebuck, Vollenwieder Orchard, Farmers Exchange, Exeter School and Justin Boot Factory. She attended Exeter Assembly of God Church.
Graveside services were held Tuesday at Maplewood Cemetery, Exeter, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Rev. Jerry Yarnall conducted the services.
