Toys to be sent to Joplin

Wednesday, July 6, 2011

Democrat Photo Area residents have donated hundreds of stuffed animals, baby dolls, toy trucks, coloring books and other children's items to Gracie's Toy Chest, which will benefit Joplin children impacted by the May 22 tornado. The toy drive was inspired by 8-year-old Gracie Miller, of Lanagan. The local toy collection effort was orchestrated by Sharon Hopkins and Debbie Gatley, both of Cassville. This week, the toys will be packed and transported to the Wildcat Conservation Area in Joplin. Miller's family has scheduled a large giveaway event to be held on Saturday. Hopkins and Gatley are pictured above with toys that were collected at Designs by Debbie in Cassville, the Roaring River State Park office and other local drop off sites. [Order this photo]
