Joe Meridith Edwards, 72, died on July 4, 2011, at Cassville Health Care and Rehab in Cassville.
He was born on Oct. 16, 1938, son of Charles Efton and Bessie Ray Edwards at home near Cape Fair. He grew up in the Eagle Rock/Shell Knob area and attended the Fairview School. In 1958, he moved to the Mineral Springs community and following his marriage, they moved to Pioneer. he retired from Forest Products in Cassville following 30 years of service. He was a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Pulaskifield.
He married Veronica Jane Stipp on Sept. 29, 1971, in Neosho. She preceded him in death on July 17, 2007.
Survivors include: one daughter, Lisa Edwards, of Monett; two stepsons, Phillip Bailey, of Wheaton, and William Bailey, of Pioneer; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Franklin Delano Edwards and Charles Ray Edwards, both of Cassville; and five sisters, Thelma Arvilla Duncan, of Shell Knob, Clemma Jean Taylor, of Butterfield, Julie Arizona Moore, of Purdy, Virgie Maxine Hall, of Monett, and Mary Earmalee Bunch, of Mt. Vernon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Jennifer Rose Edwards; one grandson; a stepdaughter, Veronica "Sissy" Bailey; two sisters, Doris Ray Butler and Iva Melvina Christina Wells; one half brother, Charles Woodrow; and one half sister, Edith Pearl Cordill.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the White Funeral Home in Cassville, with Pastor Everett Bunch officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday). Burial will be at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Pulaskifield.
