Local teen drowns in AR lake

Wednesday, June 22, 2011

A Cassville teen drowned at a lake in Arkansas on Friday.

Seth Hall, 16, was swimming with friends at Lake Monticello, located in southeast Arkansas, at around 1:15 p.m. when he dove under water at the lake and did not resurface for several minutes.

According to local news reports, Hall's friends searched for him and performed CPR after pulling him from the water.

Hall was taken by ambulance to Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello, Ark., where he was pronounced dead. A helicopter was enroute to the area to transport Hall to Arkansas Children's Hospital but Hall died before it arrived.

Drew County (Ark.) Sheriff Mark Gober reported that Hall, who just completed his sophomore year at Cassville High School, and his mother were visiting Bradley County when the accident occurred.

Hall's full obituary appears in this week's newspaper.
