Shell Knob hosts boat parade Shell Knob is kicking off Independence Day with a boat parade beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Lost Hill Island where the Kings River and White River meet. Escorted by the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 55, the parade will get underway at 6 p.m. and cruise under the bridge, ending near the Fire and Thunder Fireworks launch site.

Shell Knob's 36th annual Fire and Thunder Fireworks display will take place at 9:30 p.m. on Monday, July 4, about one mile east of Shell Knob.

The display will be shot from a platform at lake level, and according to event organizers, the best vantage point for the show is on the water.

In the event of inclement weather, the show will take place on Tuesday, July 5.

The event is free of charge to the public. The Fire and Thunder show is supported in part through the sale of Shell Knob T-shirts, available at many locations throughout Shell Knob, through the sale of tickets for chances to win the T-shirt quilt, or through donations made at collection cannisters placed in area businesses.

The event is sponsored by the Shell Knob Chamber of Commerce. For more information, contact the chamber at 417-858-3300.
