Chester Carl "Chet" Dudley, 83, of Shell Knob, passed away Monday, June 20, 2011, at his home.
He was born April 29, 1928, in Walker, Iowa, the son of Frank Stewart and Clara Jane (Price) Dudley. On June 23, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, he was united in marriage to Guinevere A. Barnes, who survives. This year would have been their 65th anniversary.
Additional survivors include: his three sons, Duane B. Dudley and his wife, Mary, of Henderson, Nev., Dr. Craig S. Dudley and his wife, Diane of Tulsa, Okla., and Gary C. Dudley and his wife, Kathryn, of Denver Colo.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Loren D. Dudley; and one sister, Wanda Patterson.
He grew up in Iowa and graduated from Wilson High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was a member of Faith Christian Church in Omaha, Neb., and served as chairman of the board. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Shrine in Omaha, and he served on the original board of directors at Oak Hills County Club. In Shell Knob, he was instrumental in forming Quiet Cove Homeowners Association and served as president for over 20 years. Senator Emory Melton recommended him to serve as Safe Drinking Water commissioner and he was appointed by Governor John Ashcroft. He served 12 years. He was a member of the Cassville Golf Club and was the announcer for the Homer Sloan Bass Tournament for over 20 years.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 16 in Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 15 in Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners' Hospital for Crippled Children, St. John's Hospice, Berryville, or LUC Boy's Ranch.
