Oscar Hugh Lacey, 94, of Exeter, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2011, in Red Rose Health and Rehabilitation Center, Cassville.
He was born June 21, 1916, in Thomas Hollow, the son of Oscar Wayne and Margaret "Maggie" (Cole) Lacey. On Nov. 24, 1938, in Wheaton, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Karvanek, who preceded him in death on Aug. 13, 2002. Also preceding him in death were his parents; two sons, David Lynn and Stephen Wayne; two brothers, Virgil and Eugene; and two sisters, Coral and Glee.
Survivors include: two sons, Hugh Lake Lacey and his wife, Susan, of Joplin, and Lyle Lacey and his wife, Dottie, of Exeter; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He received his education at Liberty rural school and graduated from Washburn High School. For over 20 years, he worked for Farmers Exchange in Exeter and was a cattle farmer his entire life. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church, Cassville. He had served on the Exeter School Board and was a board member of Barry County Health Department and the Exeter Road District.
Funeral services were held Friday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Russell Bishop conducted the services. Burial was at Maplewood Cemetery, Exeter.
