Carr siblings receive special academic awards

Amy Carr recently received an American Chemical Society Award and scholarship from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark. The award recognizes chemistry and biochemistry majors for remarkable academic achievement. Amy will graduate from the University of Arkansas Honors College in 2012 with a double major in chemistry and Spanish. She plans to enroll in the University of Florida College oΩf Pharmacy.

Jimmy Carr, Amy's brother, received the Gregory Dean Legon Memorial Award from the College of Arts and Sciences at New York University. The award is presented annually to a freshman student who in academic accomplishment and campus citizenship is deemed by the dean to be the most outstanding. Both are graduates of John Carroll Catholic High School in Ft. Pierce, Fla. They are the children of Jim and Melanie Carr, of Port Saint Lucia, Fla., and the grandchildren of the late Don and Shirley Carr, of Cassville.
