Charles "Alvin" Kellim, 93, of Springfield, formerly of Cassville, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2011, in St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield.
He was born Oct. 28, 1917, in Pawnee, the son of Asa Seaton and Melissa Cordelia (Russell) Kellim. On Dec. 31, 1943, he was united in marriage to Alta Mae Reynolds, who preceded him in death on Jan. 26, 2006. Also preceding him in death were his parents; four brothers, Dean, Beryl, Asa, Jr. and Russell; and one sister, Lena.
Survivors include: one son, Charles R. Kellim and his wife, Marjorie, of Phoenix, Ariz.; one daughter, Phyllis Kellim, of Springfield; two brothers, Elbert Kellim, of Sun City, Calif., and Ardith Kellim, of Lafayette, La.; and two grandchildren. He graduated high school in Cimarron, Kan., and Draughon Business College in Springfield. For 24 years, he was employed as a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Cassville from which he retired. After his retirement, he worked part-time at Baker-Seely Supermarket in Cassville for several years. He was a member of Cassville First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, taught Sunday school and was a member of the choir.
Funeral services were held Sunday at Cassville First Baptist Church under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Rev. James Weaver and Rev. John Duncan conducted the services. Burial with military honors was at Corinth Cemetery, Cassville.
